I'm Monica Tookes. Minister, author, and a firecracker for Christ who knows what it means to be met by God in the middle of the mess.
Before I was preaching, I was smoking. Before I knew what deliverance felt like in my own body, I was sitting in cars, breathing in something that promised to quiet the noise. God did not wait for me to clean myself up. He sat with me in the haze, and then He pulled me out.
Let Me Be Blunt is the fruit of that journey. The chapters of my freedom written down so somebody else can find theirs.
Brief Testimony
Freedom doesn't start with perfection.
I was raised in church. I knew the songs, the scriptures, and the right way to fold my hands when somebody prayed. But knowing about God and knowing God are not the same thing, and life eventually found the gap.
What started as one hit became a habit. What was just a habit became a hiding place. And what was a hiding place became a prison with the door cracked open the entire time, waiting on me to walk out.
When I finally surrendered, God did not shame me. He sat down with me. He breathed clarity into rooms that had grown used to the dark. He gave me back my mind, my voice, and my calling. And then He told me to go back and get the rest of His daughters and sons still sitting in the smoke.
